The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce Joins Proposition 4 Coalition
The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce has joined the Proposition 4 Coalition to help educate Chamber members about the importance of the constitutional amendment addressing Texas water infrastructure and resources that will appear on the November 4 ballot.
Proposition 4 dedicates $20 billion over 20 years in existing state sales tax revenue to the Texas Water Fund, which was approved by nearly 78% of voters in 2023. One billion dollars a year for the next 20 years will be directed to support flood mitigation efforts, replace aging and failing infrastructure and address Texas’ growing water demands. This investment in Texas’ economic future will be accomplished without raising or creating new taxes.
“Water is the foundation of life and business. Long-term investment in the basic building blocks of business is crucial to preserving and accelerating the tremendous economic momentum in our state,” said Aaron Cox, President & CEO, The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce. “As we press into the next 50 years of excellence in The Woodlands, our ability to ensure we do all we can to mitigate the impact of weather-related events and work to keep pace with infrastructure projects is critical. This sustained funding model represents an additional funding source to assist in the work.”

- Aging and failing water infrastructure causes nearly 3,000 boil water notices annually.
- Water infrastructure upgrade investments support nearly $500 billion in economic growth.
- Texas has significant unmet flood infrastructure needs.
As the voice of business in The Woodlands area, the Chamber is committed to keeping our region competitive, improving the business climate and advancing policies that create a more prosperous environment. Supporting stewardship of water and other natural resources to ensure a resilient, balanced and sustainable supply is a key Chamber legislative priority that advances that goal.
