The Woodlands TX – August 23, 2019 – Kean Miller is pleased to announce the addition of Royce S. Lanning as Senior Counsel in the firm’s office in The Woodlands, Texas. He will continue his practice in oil and gas transactions, estate planning and probate, business formation and corporate advice, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate development and financing.
Royce assists corporate clients with energy-related transactions, mergers & acquisitions, and joint ventures, including upstream acquisitions and divestitures, asset and equity purchase/sale agreements and services agreements. He has served as lead counsel on corporate deals with aggregate transaction values in excess of $30 million dollars and recently assisted a significant oil & gas company in a complex transaction involving unique issues surrounding the pre-existing transportation agreements.
With extensive experience assisting clients and business owners with sophisticated estate planning and probate strategies in Texas, Royce also drafts wills, trusts, and other wealth preservation tools for clients designed to comply with and leverage federal taxation laws.
Royce earned his B.S. from Evangel University in Springfield Missouri and his J.D. from the University of Hawaii, William S. Richardson School of Law in 2003.
Active in the community, Royce is part of Habitat for Humanity, Montgomery County’s Family Services Team which helps families navigate the process from application to home ownership. His position offers him the opportunity to be involved in the Wall Raising Ceremony at the beginning of the build, and the Dedication Ceremony at the end of the build. He speaks as a representative of Habitat at each of those events. Royce also volunteers for The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, Northwood Church, and he is also a member of the Leadership Montgomery County class of 2019.
Born in Corpus Christi, Royce’s family moved to Hawaii when he was 8 years old. He graduated from high school in Hawaii and went back for law school where he practiced for 2 years before moving back to Texas. Royce has lived in north Harris County since 2006 and is looking forward to moving into Hampton Forest, just south of Creekside.
Married with 2 daughters, Royce enjoys the outdoors, grilling, spending time in the yard with his kids and dogs, as well as running and riding bikes with his children.
