The Woodlands, Texas (AUGUST, 2017) The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce hosted The 39th Annual Chairman’s Ball Celebrating the Heart of our Community on Saturday, August 12 from 6:00 p.m. to Midnight at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott & Conference Center.

“Chairman’s Ball is a festive event where we can celebrate our Chairman, Linda Head and the impact she has made to The Chamber over the past year” says Meagen Korenek, Director of Special Events at The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce. “Traditionally, the Chairman chooses the theme to reflect their personality or style. Chairman Linda Head selected Celebrating the Heart of Our Community to showcase instead our community and the incredible partnerships.”

Linda Head oversees the Office of Workforce Education and Corporate Partnerships at Lone Star College (LSC) System, serving as Associate Vice Chancellor. Her responsibilities include workforce related activities across six LSC campuses and partnerships with hundreds of corporate and healthcare business partners.

“I follow big shoes.” reflected Linda, “The board is an incredible group of leaders in this community from hospital CEOs to The Woodlands Township, Conroe ISD leadership, area businesses and small business owners that have done something that I have never done and run successful small businesses. I have learned from all of them and it has been an incredible journey that has helped me personally and professional. It is such a gift.”

Linda Head was recognized as one of Houston’s Top 50 Most Influential Women of 2016 by Houston Women’s Magazine. “I hope I have made a difference,” Linda remarked on Saturday night, “I hope I have also left some sort of legacy for female leaders and young women that are on the path for higher level leadership jobs.”

Linda also took the time to welcome the 2017-2018 Chairman of the Board, Frank Holmes of Sam Houston State University. Frank serves as Vice President for University Advancement. The advancement division encompasses departments of advancement services alumni relations, development, marketing and communications and the Sam Houston Memorial Museum.

“Thank you so much, Linda.” Said Frank Holmes, “I want to express my sincerest congratulations and gratitude for your outstanding service as board chair.  We are fortunate to have benefited from your dedicated leadership.  As we all know, this is an extraordinary community with an abundance of energetic and positive involvement. Together, we get great things done.  I am beyond honored to have the unique opportunity to follow a long line of successful individuals who have served as chairmen of our wonderful Chamber’s Board of Directors.  I look forward to working with our great staff and members.  Moreover, Linda, I look forward to continuing to work with and learn from you in the months ahead.  Again, congratulations and thank you for helping to make a difference.”

The evening also included a special toast presented by Ana Simmons on behalf of United Airlines, “On behalf of United Airlines, we wish you good fortune in all your undertakings with a bright and successful future. May the next 39 years be even more prosperous than the last. Now, let’s raise our glasses. Here’s to The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce and Mrs. Linda Head!”

The program ended with the announcement of the Table Top Decoration Winners.
